Providing support, guidance, and compassionate care during a difficult time.
Caring for your terminally ill or older pet is a massive undertaking for any pet parent. Trying to handle the situation on your own can be overwhelming, which is why we offer hospice and euthanasia services when needed. Coming to terms with saying goodbye to your furry friend will be an extremely emotional experience, and as fellow animal lovers, we want to extend our deepest sympathies. We can offer advice from a medical perspective and allow your pet to peacefully pass on when the time is right.
It will be painful for you to think about euthanasia for your pet, but you must always remember that as their guardian, everything you do should be in their best interest. When your pet is suffering due to age, injury or a terminal condition, their quality of life is poor. At that stage, your pet is in immense pain, and they aren’t able to live up to their normal lifestyle. You’ll start to notice they are less active or affectionate, and they sometimes prefer to be alone. The pet you once spent so many good times with begins to diminish before your eyes. This is when you can start the conversation with your veterinarian. We can assess your pet’s state of being and recommend the next actions we can take. We are here to support you through this difficult time, please call us at 604-856-7707 with any questions.
Euthanasia is recommended for pets because it is a pain-free procedure and ultimately the last act of mercy offered to a loyal companion. Our caring and compassionate professionals perform the process, whose aim is to make your pet’s final moments as pleasant as possible. We may administer a sedative to keep your pet calm; then the euthanasia solution is administered with an injection. The medication takes effect almost immediately and your pet will calmly pass on.
