How is my pet kept safe during surgery?

Once our team decides that surgery is needed for your pet, we begin to perform tests to determine if your pet is a good candidate. We run blood tests to determine how much anesthesia is safe to use and if necessary, we will run other tests to learn more about their health. We keep your pet’s vital signs in check for each surgical procedure while under anesthesia. Our veterinary technician will monitor your pet’s heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and temperature as these tell us how well your pet is handling the surgery. Once the surgery is done, we monitor your pet until the anesthesia wears off. Your pet’s recovery will include pain medication or rehabilitation as prescribed or recommended by the vet.

What surgeries do you offer?

The surgical procedures we offer include:

  • Spays and neuters
  • Dental procedures
  • Gall bladder and urinary bladder stone removals
  • Gastropexies
  • Liver and organ biopsies
  • Orthopedic surgeries

How can I prepare my pet for surgery?

Some surgeries may need special preparation, which our team will make sure you’re aware of. To discuss specific preparation for your pet’s surgery, call us at 604-856-7707. In general, we recommend that food and water be withheld from your pet by midnight before the day of the procedure. We also ask that your pet is up-to-date on their vaccines.
